Natalie edits professional papers, books, and anthologies for Ph.D. and postdoctoral students, social scientists and researchers, and other professionals throughout Europe and the U.S. Her work covers everything from grammar and punctuation to sentence style, and from word choice to journal-appropriate argumentation.
Her approach to editing is highly interactive. Beyond editing for grammar, spelling, and punctuation, she points out inconsistencies and confusing language use, asks for clarification of both content and organization, and questions argumentation style. She then asks the writer to revise and resend the paper. This process continues until the paper (or book) is ready for submission.
Given the extensive involvement of the writer in this kind of editing process, Natalie edits books and papers for the following groups of people:
- Those who have taken both her Academic Writing and Journal Analysis courses
- Those who have taken only the Academic Writing course but have studied and applied the strategies in the journal analysis section of Getting Published in International Journals
- Those who have taken neither course but who have studied and clearly applied all the writing strategies in Getting Published in International Journals
- Anthology editors who fall into one of the first three categories
In addition, given a recent increase in the number of editing requests that she is receiving, Natalie now asks all potential clients to do the following:
- send their requests at least 6-8 weeks before they wish her to edit their papers
- thoroughly self-edit those papers before sending them
- send her, along with their paper, their detailed journal analyses
